How would you feel if you were on the verge of accomplishing something that you dreamed off as a child only to have disaster strike leaving your fellow countryman to walk away with the prize. That is the story of Jason Day’s Masters debut in 2011.
Jason’s childhood dream had always been to play Augusta National and bring the Masters green jacket back to Australia, something that eluded national sports hero Greg Norman so many times. In 2011, Jason Day was poised for victory, when back to back bogeys left him on the outside looking in as fellow countryman Adam Scott became the first Masters champion from Australia.
Jason Day settled for runner-up in 2011, but discovered that his game was a perfect fit for Augusta National. A third place finish further confirmed that in 2013. Last year Day came to Augusta nursing a thumb injury and tied for 20th.
A superb start to 2015 has Jason Day , once again, among the contenders to win the green jacket. In his 5 PGA Tour starts this year Day has finished outside the top 20 only once, that happened last week at Doral. Jason comes to Augusta with a win at the Farmer’s Open at Torrey Pines. Day won a 4-man playoff to claim his 3rd career PGA Tour victory.
Look for Jason Day to take aim at achieving his childhood dream. A dream that has been deferred since his Master’s debut in 2011. Perhaps this will be the year that the native Australian gets even with a course owes him one. That is why Jason Day is One To Watch at The Masters in 2015.
